About the Medical Library
The Gulu University Medical Library provides the services and collections to supports and further medical education and research. The Medical Library was established in October 2004 in the former maternity word of Gulu Regional Referral Hospital. In the years 2008 and 2010, new library spaces were opened at Lacor Campus and Faculty of Medicine New Site respectively. The Library has since expanded and gained its current status of Branch Library of the Gulu University Library.

Direction and locations of the Medical Library
The Medical Library is located on the upper floor of Faculty of Medicine Building New Sites about 1.5 kilometres East of Gulu Regional Referral Hospital toward Gulu University Main Campus in Laroo Division. The Reference Library at Gulu University Lacor Campus in Lacor Hospital is also on the upper floor about 4 kilometres along Juba Road west of Gulu town centre.

Medical Library Opening Hours 
The Medical Library is open to faculty of medicine, students, staff in the teaching hospitals and the general community as follows:

  • Monday – Friday: 8.00 am – 5.00 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 8.30 am – 5.00 pm
  • Public Holiday: 8.30 am – 4.00 pm
  • The Library remains closed during all Christian and Muslim Public holidays

Account and Access
Our goal is to provide easy access to our resources and facilities available to support and further medical education and research in Gulu University and beyond.

Registration and Membership
All registrations to access and use resources and facilities in the Medical Library are done in the Gulu University Main Library. Any changes in places for registration will be authorized by the Library Board when necessary.

Our users/ whom we serve
The Medical Library serves Gulu University and Faculty of Medicine, staff and students. The Medical Library also serves the Teaching Hospitals (Gulu Regional Referral Hospital and Lacor Hospital) and the general community.
